  • Where are you Getting your Images From?

    November 19, 2018
  • Do you use images for your business?

Where you do get them from?

    Google?

    Facebook?

    Are they yours?

Are they just copied from another website or Facebook page?

So many questions and all very relevant when it comes to using images for your business on the internet.

If you do not have permission to use the images, then you can get into very big trouble as you do not have permission to use these.

You might say, but I use it from those websites where they give you permission to download the images, so that is OK.  Well, that is exactly what I thought as well.

As a result of a recommendation from someone else, I was using one of those sites and I understood that this was Ok as I was given permission to use these images by simply signing up for the website who provided these images.

    How wrong was I?

    Seems not.

Apparently, as anyone can upload images to this same website then the images are not guaranteed to be safe.   Members could go and download a picture from a website and then upload it to an image website and pass it off as there own and the website providing the image to you has no way of knowing who is the original owner of this image.

The last thing you want to do in your business is use someone else’s images without their permission, that is just bad karma and it doesn’t look professional for you.

So, how can you get around this?

Firstly, you can just take your own photos or make your own graphics and use your own created images, at least you know who owns them.

Secondly, you could use a website that guarantees their images to be safe to use.   This may take a little more investigating on your part.

This is what I do.  Honestly, I feel more secure this way.

I am sure there are a few of these websites around but on a recommendation from a lawyer, I use the StockPhotoSecrets also known as the 99 club.  For $99.00 you get 200 images.

They guarantee their images in the way where they will legally back their images should you run into any issues.

For me, this was a no-brainer and something that I did immediately as soon as I found out the trouble, I could get myself and my business into by using someone else’s pictures.

I don’t want that headache and I am sure you don’t either.   Now I can use images confidently and not have to worry about any legal issues that may arise.
